Craig E. Morris, DC, DACRB, FAFICC, QME

drmorris-picDr. Craig E. Morris is the Director of the F.I.R.S.T. Health clinic in Torrance, where he has practiced for over 35 years. He is an internationally acknowledged non-surgical spine and extremity, sports and rehabilitation expert, lecturer and author. In addition to California, he is licensed to practice in the state of Oregon. He brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience to the patients at F.I.R.S.T. Health.

Dr. Morris is a native of the South Bay, graduating from Hawthorne High School and then attending Pepperdine University. He then attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic in 1981.

Dr. Morris is a former Professor of Clinical Sciences at Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles and a member of the post-graduate faculty at Southern California University of Health Sciences, Palmer Chiropractic College, National University of health Sciences and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

img_1965-2-1Dr. Morris is the editor and an author of the internationally renowned textbook entitled —“Low Back Syndromes: Integrated Clinical Management”, a break-through multi-professional (contributors include internationally renowned experts in the fields of spine surgery, physical medicine & rehabilitation, pain management, osteopathy, physical therapy, psychology, radiology, occupational medicine, spinal biomechanics, and of course chiropractic) published by McGraw-Hill. Clinicians from around the world have utilized his text.

Dr. Morris is Board Certified in Chiropractic Rehabilitation through the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board, the first Doctor of Chiropractic in California to earn this 3-year, post-doctoral specialty. In fact, he was honored for his clinical excellence by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) Rehabilitation Council as being named the “ACA Rehabilitation Doctor of the Year” in 2014.

Dr. Morris holds advanced certifications in Manual Medicine and Rehabilitation at Charles University Hospital, Prague, where he studied extensively with the late world-renowned Professors— Karel Lewit and Vladimir Janda. He continues his international affiliation and teaching with the “Prague School” of Rehabilitation as a Senior Instructor for Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) (rehabps.com).

Dr. Morris is also an expert in the field of California Workers Compensation. He is a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME), certified through the state of California; helping to provide disability determinations for complex work-related injuries (he also performs medicolegal evaluations in Oregon!). He served as in-office District Office Health Consultant at State Compensation Insurance Fund (the largest workers compensation carrier in California) for over 10 years. In addition to rehabilitation, Dr. Morris specializes in sports injuries. He served as a member of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee’s medical staff a Medical Committee Member for the International Powerlifting Federation. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA). He served as a rehabilitation consultant for both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers ice hockey teams of the National Hockey League. He has worked as a rehabilitation consultant for the National Hockey League Players— Association. He served as rehabilitation director for ProGolf Health for several years, which was the largest private clinical management group for touring golf professionals on both the PGA and European Tours.

Dr. Morris is also an expert in the field of medico-legal evaluation. He is the Past President for the Academy of Forensic and Industrial Chiropractic Consultants and a Qualified Medical Examiner. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, the California Chiropractic Association and the Oregon Chiropractic Association. Dr. Morris is the Founding President of the Slovak Chiropractic Association, a member nation of the World Federation of Chiropractic.

Because of his vast clinical experience and diverse areas of expertise, Dr. Morris accepts a wide variety of patients. Although he accepts acute (new injury) patients, he is renowned for his management of complex, chronic disorders related to the joints, muscles and nervous system. He accepts pediatric (children) and geriatric (seniors) cases. He treats a wide variety of accident cases, including automobile accident and sports injuries. An expert in the treatment of scar tissue disorders, he accepts complex cases related to surgical and traumatic scarring, such as plastic, orthopedic, obstetric, orthopedic and general surgery cases. Dr. Morris accepts neurological rehabilitation cases using central European Manual Medicine for cases such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis cases. He has taught neurological rehabilitation courses at both the educational centers at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance and Providence Little Company of Mary in San Pedro facilities. The majority of patients that Dr. Morris sees are referred to him by medical physicians in the region. However, patients travel to receive treatment from this internationally renowned clinician. In fact, one family brought their 5-year-old son, who had suffered a brain trauma and lost the use of the left side of his body, all the way from Johannesburg, South Africa. Following treatment, that boy regained the ability to walk!

Dr. Morris previously worked with the World Powerlifting Federation, both on the medical council and as a tournament doctor, including the World Championship. In the National Hockey League, he previously worked with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers and later served as a medical consultant for the National Hockey Players’ Association. Dr. Morris served as Rehabilitation Director for ProGolf Health, Inc., the largest private concierge group of treating clinicians on both the Professional Golfers’ Association and European Golfers’ Association tours.

Dr. Morris is a proud parent and grandparent, with family members spread around the US and internationally.


Theodore Georgis M.D. Q.M.E.

Theodore GeorgisDr. Theodore Georgis is an Orthopedic Surgeon who graduated with honors from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and went on to complete Medical School at Northwestern University at their downtown Chicago, Illinois campus. Following graduation from Medical School, Dr. Georgis completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco in 1986. Dr. Georgis then completed a one year Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the University of California, San Diego.

After his fellowship, Dr. Georgis maintained a busy private practice for many years at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA, specializing in spinal surgery. He also held the position of Voluntary Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego.

Due to a motorcycle accident that fractured both of Dr. Georgis’ hips, he retired from surgical practice for several years to go through extensive rehabilitation and focus on raising his family. During this time, Dr. Georgis gained valuable insight on what his patients go through, which enables him to better understand their pain and the challenges they face during the rehabilitation process. Already a man of integrity, this experience has made him an even more compassionate doctor to his patients.

He remains active in the community, serving as President of the local Pop Warner Football Association in the recent past. Since 2008, Dr. Georgis has devoted his practice to medical-legal evaluations. In addition to California, Dr. Georgis also holds an active Washington state medical license and will be conducting IME’s in that state.


Staff

Cynthia Garcia – Office Manager

cynthia-picCynthia and Dr. Morris have been teaming together for over 17 years of experience to take care of our F.I.R.S.T. Health patients! Cynthia has diligently and dependably worked as Dr. Morris’s “right hand” through the years. She brought prior legal and chiropractic health training with her and has been an instrumental figure in both the wonderful, compassionate and competent care of patients and administration of the clinic. Her kind personality and professional demeanor helps to promote the calm and positive atmosphere that patients have come to appreciate. Cynthia resides in San Pedro with her husband and daughter, but their grown sons and grandchildren remain close by!


Melissa Gonzalez, M.A. – Office Staff

malissa-picMelissa is a trained Medical Assistant who has been a vital part of the F.I.R.S.T. Health family for over 7 years! Bilingual (English/Spanish), she provides expert patient care, assisting Dr. Morris through the day, while assisting with administrative duties also. She brings a fun and humorous edge to the office and patients are drawn to her caring nature and Dr. Morris depends heavily on her with patient care. She has prior experience in the field of gynecology and obstetrics and she often provides advice for a variety of women’s health issues. She resides in San Pedro with a busy family of five, with two sons and a daughter.


Luz Hernandez – Office Staff

luz-picLuz is currently in her first year at F.I.R.S.T. Health and has rapidly become a popular addition among both staff and patients. She brings a thoughtful and friendly addition to the clinic staff and has proven to be very dependable. She has become quite a good assistant to Dr. Morris in a relatively short time and has learned well from Cynthia and Melissa as her mentors. Luz resides in Lakewood and has two adult children.


Daniella Morris – Administration/Accounting

daniella-picDaniella is completing her first year at F.I.R.S.T. Health and has become a favorite among the staff. She brings a business and accounting background to the clinic and has been a key figure in improving the business side of things and her diligent efforts are highly appreciated. Her optimism and quick laugh have become staples among staff members. She is Dr. Morris’s daughter-in-law and resides with her husband in Hawthorne.
